Emilie-Tolnay-Hof – Hütteldorferstraße

350

Project 350

The collective named the project after the resistance fighter Emilie Tolnay, who was active in the district during the time of National Socialism. In the first phase of the competition the organizers focused on the residents: Their presentations and concepts should be the principal decision-making criteria. Most members of the well-organized collective are active in the social and artistic fields. Accordingly, their idea was to create a cultural dining room, the “Kultur Špajz”, a multifunctional space for cultural and social activities, and agreements were reached with several cultural initiatives for the use of this space, which can be flexibly combined with the project’s double-height “living room”. The project also opens up to the neighbourhood via activities in the garden. A wide range of residential forms including shared and cluster apartments, etc., were designed, some of which emerged from the current living arrangements of the members of the collective.
